International Women’s Day 2016

International Women’s Day 2016

Happy International Women’s Day!

I’m so thankful to have been raised by a hard-working, God-fearing woman who worked overnights so that we kids never had to go to daycare. She would get home from work in the morning and get us all dressed and ready for school, drive us to school, go home and sleep for a few hours, then come back and pick us up. I didn’t realize at the time how exhausting that must have been.

I’m thankful to be a woman. I’m thankful I was able to carry two children inside of me and birth them without pain medications, one after an induction. September 1, 2014, and July 18, 2016, were two of the most empowering days of my life.

I’m thankful to be called “wife” by a wonderful man. I’m blessed that he is willing to work so much so that I can stay home with the kids. Our weekly groceries are bought off the sale ad, and most clothes are bought on clearance, but that’s fine by us.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to be involved in ministry as a woman. I am free to serve, mentor, and help other women.
How fitting is it that this day comes right before our SoCal Ladies Conference. I’m blessed by the examples of my elders. I’ve only had 2 Pastor’s Wives in my life and both of them have been powerful, beautiful, and strong women of God.

I’m thankful to have the opportunity to raise a daughter. I will do my best to teach her to be strong, yet to always remain a lady. To love the Lord with her whole heart and to serve, respect, and love others.

As I spend my day grocery shopping, doing laundry, and changing diapers, I am blessed to be the woman God made me to be.
